To celebrate Christmas at Groveland Park, we are putting on two truly brilliant events this December, and we really hope you can join us. We’re starting the month off on Tuesday 4th December with Kit, a Saxophonist and Singer with an incredible repertoire. Performing a wide range of songs spanning five decades, you’re in for a real treat. Just before Christmas on Friday 21st December, we’re putting on an extra-special event that’s suitable for all ages and fun for all the family – it’s a Jack and the Beanstalk Pantomime! Come and join us to see this well-loved story brought to life at Groveland Park.

As always, our events are completely free of charge and include refreshments too. We really hope to see you in our home this December. If you would like to come along to either or both of our events this month, please email us at events@grovelandpark.co.uk or call the team on 01322 523 090.

Remembrance Sunday

Owing to the significance of Remembrance Sunday this year, with it marking the 100th anniversary of the end of World War I, we went all out in our efforts – with the help of Julie, one of our regular volunteers, our residents managed to make over 120 knitted poppies.

Our knit and natter group is growing in size each week, as everybody wants to get involved in raising money for the Greenwich & Bexley Hospice. By selling poppies, we raised almost £300, which is absolutely amazing.

In previous years, our fundraising efforts have always been a success with the handmade poppies, so watch out for what we have in store for next year…

Las Vegas Dance Show

On Friday 9th November, we spent yet another fabulous all-inclusive evening at Groveland Park, this time with the very glamorous ‘Showgirl Sisters’! At our Vegas Dance Show, complete with American appetisers and sassy cocktails, a great night was had by all, with fantastic dancing and great music.

The show was a mixture of dance routines from Vegas and lyrical jazz numbers bringing some glitz and glamour, and the ladies dazzled us with custom-made costumes and bubbly personalities. This was a fantastic night loved by all our residents and visitors who attended.

Entertainment at Groveland Park this month is very exciting, as we have two fantastic acts lined up for our residents, their families, friends and members of the local community - will we be seeing you here?

We're kicking the month off this Thursday, with a Beatles Tribute Duo, who will be singing all your favourite Beatles songs, and singing along is most certainly encouraged. Our second act of the month is a classical singer - Gemma has a wealth of experience and has an incredible range, so she's sure to put on a fantastic performance for us all on Thursday 25th.

As always, our events are completely free, and they both include complimentary refreshments too. Please RSVP to events@grovelandpark.co.uk or 01322 523090 - we hope to see you very soon.

A visit from Tickled Pink Productions

We were lucky enough to play host to Tickled Pink Productions on Monday! Established in 2002 as a one-off tour for care homes, the shows were so popular that they never stopped, and we’re lucky enough to keep on welcoming them back.

Their visit this week was amazing – both the singing and dancing were enthralling, bringing some of the residents to tears. It was the Swing Shift, packed with classic songs from the Rat Pack, Frank Sinatra and Marilyn Monroe to name a few. The impressive eclectic set was full of Big Band classics, and all the performers wore the most gorgeous costumes – the show even included the light-hearted story of Billy the Milkman and Shirley the Big Band singer, so it was multi-dimensional to keep everyone entertained for the entire performance. To make sure that everyone could join in, there were even songbooks for the residents to refer to during the event!

Everyone had a thoroughly enjoyable time and we can’t wait to see Tickled Pink Productions back at Groveland Park.

Teaming up with the National Citizen Service

The National Citizen Service is a three-part government-funded youth programme, and it’s all about adventure, discovery and social action – and on Tuesday, we were lucky enough to have a bunch of 15 to 17-year-olds in our midst as part of the initiative.

The idea of the NCS is to bring together schools, community organisations, businesses and individuals to build a stronger and more cohesive society. Its aim is to encourage young to try new things, gain new skills and challenges themselves!

Visiting us as part of their social action, our day started with the NCS members taking charge of running a successful games session; there were several residents and young people playing a selection of games including Scrabble, Connect Four, Draughts and Snakes & Ladders, and of course, there was plenty of chat, tea and biscuits too.

In the afternoon, the young people recited poetry to our residents, followed by both solo and group singing, even throwing in the Kiki Dance moves! Our residents really had a fun-filled day with this fine group of youngsters.

On our parting goodbyes, one of our residents said to them: “It’s lovely to see the young people of today showing that there are good, kind young people out there wanting to make a difference instead of the bad publicity that we so often hear about.”

From everyone here at Groveland Park, we’d like to thank the National Citizen Service for your kindness! We hope to welcome you back into our home again one day.
