Puppet power at Groveland Park

Back on 3rd July, we enjoyed an evening with Paul – this was one of the funniest shows that Groveland Park has ever seen, hands down. Paul is an amazing ventriloquist and not only was his performance spot on, but we were wowed by how he could sing using different voices – and with impeccable timing! The puppets used in the show were so realistic and funny, and Paul had us in stitches throughout. The residents all said they hadn’t laughed like that a long time, and the event was given a rave review. Keep an eye out for future performances from Paul!

Stepping back in time to the 1940s... it must be time for the Victory Tea Dance!

We had a fantastic day trip over to Grays Civic Hall in Essex yesterday for the Victory Tea Dance, where we were transported back to the 1940s – the place was set out just like a dance hall would have been, with the big band up on stage, tables all around and a huge open dancefloor.

We were entertained by the M7 Dance Band with cabaret from Annie Riley, Le’arna Castle, Lloyd Ellery, Mike Marandi, Viv the Spiv, special guest Scott Elvis, and not forgetting the host, Micky Driver. We all had so much fun dancing the afternoon away and enjoying a delicious afternoon tea.

We can’t wait for next year’s dance already!

D-Day night was a nostalgic event and to mark this significant date, we invited an amazing duo into our home, Kate and Kirsty. They brought the true meaning of honour to Groveland Park; our residents were overwhelmed as the ladies performed in authentic uniforms and sang a whole host of well-loved songs. We had tears and laughter throughout, remembering all those who were lost 75 years ago.

We’re ending spring with a bang as today, the CQC has named us as an ‘Outstanding’ care home!

As of 31st May 2019, we are officially ‘Outstanding’, an accomplishment that only 3.7% of care homes in the UK manage to achieve – and we couldn’t be prouder.

Thank you to the residents, family members, friends and staff for making this happen as it’s thanks to each and every person in the Groveland Park community that this home is what it is.

The official inspection report will be released by the CQC in due course.
