April Events at Groveland Park

Thumbnail for April Events at Groveland Park
We're really excited about our two events taking place at Groveland Park in April, and we really hope you can join us.

The first act is taking place on Friday 5th April and it's an Elvis Presley Tribute Act! It's as close as we could get to the real thing and we can't wait to see those blue suede shoes up close. How better to celebrate spring than with the King of Rock 'n' Roll?

Our second event in April is on Tuesday 23rd April - it's the Cockney Duo! Cheryl and Marcus will be here to entertain us with a fantastic selection of Cockney singalong favourites as we celebrate St. George's Day.

As always, our events are completely free of charge, including refreshments. Please RSVP to events@grovelandpark.co.uk or 01322 523090. Both April events begin at 6:45pm - we hope to see you at one or both of the great nights we have planned at Groveland Park this April!

Wonderful Workshops with Creative Mojo

This month, we welcomed Creative Mojo craft workshops into our home for the first time, for those looking to get creative. At these workshops, there are no limitations, with tailor-made projects focusing on seasonal, cultural, art history and popular art movements, creating artwork that can be displayed and shared as a group, giving lasting enjoyment at the end of every session.

After the first session, the residents – or should we say art students? – had put together a wonderful piece of 3D art that has been put display here in our home. Everyone who has seen it has commented on how beautiful it is and they are truly in awe of what we have produced.

Six Steps Certificate

Thumbnail for Six Steps Certificate
We’re delighted to say that back in February, Groveland Park was awarded with its Six Steps Certificate, which highlights the high standard of care provided to those nearing the end of their life.

The Six Steps Programme aims to enhance end-of-life care by facilitating organisational change and supporting and educating staff to develop their roles around end-of-life care, so we’re incredibly proud to be one of just a handful of care homes in the area capable of offering this special kind of care.

Here at Groveland Park, we work closely with the Greenwich & Bexley Hospice who carry out such a vital role in the community – it’s the team at the hospice who provided our staff with expert training and took us through the structured Six Steps Programme that takes residents through a journey to advanced care in the last stages of life.

We consider it a privilege to play this important role within the care sector and are honoured to be able to offer end-of-life care of the highest quality.

March Events at Groveland Park

We would love to see you at Groveland Park this month, and we have two fantastic events lined up to make March extra-special. We hope you can make it in to see one or both of our great acts!

Without further ado, here’s what we have in store this March…

We’re starting things off in style, with the Chas & Dave Show on Thursday 7th! Pete and Tony will be here at Groveland Park to perform their musical tribute to the original ‘Rockney’ duo, Chas & Dave, complete with live guitars, lead vocals and backing tracks. You’ll get to hear all the classic hits, including ‘Ain’t No Pleasing You’, ‘London Girls’, ‘Rabbit’ and lots more. At this event, there will be nibbles and an open bar to enjoy.

On Saturday 23rd, we’re playing host to two amazingly talented chaps impersonating Ball & Boe! Known as The Two Bows, we can’t wait to hear them perform favourites from the Rat Pack and Swing era, as well as some of our TV, film and musical theatre favourites. We’ll also be serving gourmet delights and cocktails, so it’s sure to be a great evening.

If you would like to join us for either or both of these great acts, please RSVP to events@grovelandpark.co.uk or 01322 523090 – it would be great to see you and as usual, everything is completely free of charge. Food options are subject to change.

St. Patrick’s Day Celebrations

Thumbnail for St. Patrick’s Day Celebrations
We had a fantastic week in the lead-up to St. Patrick’s Day as we were busy getting everything ready for the celebrations. Everyone got stuck in with the Irish-themed arts and crafts and we displayed these on all floors of the home, including in the Bistro. It was great to spread a little Irish cheer.

We welcomed the wonderful Fiddle Fit Duo into Groveland Park and they played some fantastic Irish music for us all, and we put on all sorts of games too, with the people living here posing for pictures with our photo props – even Boysie the dog joined in!
