These past few weeks here at Groveland Park have been very busy. We’ve had all sorts of new and exciting activities going on, days out and not to mention adding some new faces to our rapidly growing family. To start the week off all of our residents enjoyed being pampered by our reflexologist Christine. Everyone had the option to have either their feet, hands or perhaps both done to relax and relieve any tension! Later on in the evening a few of our ladies went down stairs to our Bar/Bistro with Sasha where they reminisced about their younger years, what it was like growing up in the height of World War II, mentioning both good and bad memories. One of our residents even dug out some of her old favourite photographs and shared her wonderful stories from her wedding day and honeymoon. Later on in the week two members of our senior care staff, Martin and Mary put on a fabulous performance in the downstairs lounge singing a variety of old war time songs. All of our residents particularly enjoyed this, everyone was up on their feet singing or dancing along to the music! These songs bought several good memories flooding back and left everyone with a smile on their faces! We’ve had a couple of days out, one in particular being when the residents put on their dancing shoes and popped out to a tea dance put on by our local council. They enjoyed lots of tea and cake as well as enjoying the company of some members of the local community, having a good natter. In preparation for the long summer days they finished off the week taking full advantage of the weather by starting a vegetable patch in the garden, we’ll keep you updated on how it grows!
