19-12-2014 We've had lots going on at Groveland Park this week in the run-up to Christmas. Earlier on in the week we had 2 trips to Bexleyheath Town Centre to have a wander around and a look at the lights, giving our residents a chance to pick up any last bits for their loved ones. We have also had a group of students come to visit from Picardy Manor School to learn how everyday life worked back when the residents were younger. They were very impressed by the residents life stories, they also brought presents, aww! Also this week we've had the company of 'The Body Shop' who displayed a range of their products and were in the Bistro giving complimentary hand massages. Last but not least the local church who kindly come to sing song carols for our residents. I think its time for a rest!
05-12-2014 All of us here at Groveland Park have been getting in the Christmas spirit this week with putting up all our Christmas decorations. The residents had some Christmassy entertainment on Monday afternoon with Kelly Pepper singing all the Festive classics and tapping their feet. We spent the rest of the week shopping at Ruxley Manor and Bexleyheath shopping centre getting all our presents ready.
28-11-2014 Tonight's the night, their bags are packed and they are ready to go and enjoy a glamorous evening at the CARE HOME AWARDS 2014 as we have excitedly been nominated AND made it through to the TOP 5 for a well deserved award for 'Best Care Team'. We have just waved off a selection of our staff which were picked out of a hat (we wish we could of taken everyone!) as they left in the mini-bus for London. Nicola cant express enough how over the moon she would be if her wonderful team got the recognition they truly deserve. FINGERS CROSSED!!!! Also tonight we have one of our fantastic fortnightly evening events. This evening we will be enjoying the company of Darren Mcquade who will be baffling us with his magic show. Keep a close eye on this one! Finger buffet served throughout.
14-11-2014 This week at Groveland Park we held one of our fabulous fortnightly events on Tuesday evening and what better event to hold other that a Wartime Remembrance Tribute. The Wartime Tribute was performed by the wonderful Tracey Lea who filled the evening with all the classic songs from the WW1. There was dancing, singing and a tasty curry to top it off. Lee our Activities Co-ordinator also made his best efforts during the day to have Remembrance themed activities and decorated the doors and windows with poppy posters, poems and displays. We are all feeling very proud of those who gave their tomorrow for our today. Lest We Forget.
07-11-2014 As the temperatures dropped this week and the face of winter surfaced, we've been spending some quality time in the warmth and making the most of Groveland's luxury facilities. This week our Spa & Salon has been occupied all week with visits from Tracy our hairdresser, who was in Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday making sure everyone was looking their best. Thursday we had Barbara providing her wonderful Reiki massages, David the Chiropodist was also working his magic on both Thursday and Friday to ensure not one resident was left without beautiful feet. Along with copious amounts of tea and coffee, our residents are feeling new.
